Music Education Hubs: Survey and Data

For each year of funding, we require Hubs to complete an annual survey, which details participant numbers and characteristics, staffing and board statistics, activities, income and expenditure.

On this page, you can download templates and guidance for the 2023-24 annual survey, as well as a step-by-step video walkthrough.

There’ll be drop-in support sessions later in 2024, where current Hub Lead Organisations can discuss this survey, via Microsoft Teams, with the Arts Council’s policy and data analysis colleagues.

Hub Data Dashboard

The Hub Data Dashboard contains annual survey Hub data from 2012-13, through to our most recently published data from 2021-22.

We hope that this will enable Hubs and interested stakeholders to share data more easily, as well as benchmark performance and explore regional and national trends.

The data is supplemented with national data from the Department for Education’s data service: Get Information About Schools and provides tables and graphs to illustrate and compare key data.

Prior to the creation of this dashboard we commissioned an independent report summarising Hubs’ annual performance against key performance indicators.

These reports are available to download in the next section. 

Alongside the dashboard, we have created a Context Paper, which sets out some of the key points for consideration when interpreting Hub data. This draws on and replaces all previous year’s Context Papers into one document for ease of reference.
