What is an introductory conversation?

What is an introductory conversation?

An introductory conversation is a meeting with some of the Arts Council team. The meeting is an opportunity to discuss your plans to lead a new Music Hub.

You can have an introductory conversation between Monday 10 July and Friday 18 August 2023

You don’t need to have confirmed your Music Hub proposals to have an introductory conversation, but you do need to have started thinking about plans to develop partnerships with other organisations, governance and management, and financial management. So, it’s important that you have read our Guidance for Applicants and the essential documents before you request your introductory conversation.

Learn more about what to expect from an introductory conversation on page 46 of the Guidance for Applicants.

Do I need to have one?

Do I need to have one?

Yes. All organisations wanting to lead a Music Hub must have an introductory conversation. This includes organisations that have previously led or been involved with a Music Education Hub.

You will not be able to submit your application without attaching the email from the Arts Council that confirms you have attended an introductory conversation.

How many people can attend?

How many people can attend?

Up to four people can attend your introductory conversation. This may include other members of the proposed Music Hub partnership and/or governing body.

Introductory conversations for consortium applications

It is possible for more people to attend the introductory conversation for applicants considering a consortium approach. This would normally mean that one person per organisation within the consortium can attend the introductory conversation. If you intend to apply as part of a consortium which has more than four member organisations, please state all the consortium members you would like to attend within the introductory conversation booking form on our website.
