Skills needs assessment for the creative and cultural sector: A current and future outlook

This report summarises primary research undertaken by CFE Research to assess the current and future skills needs of arts organisations in England.  

The assessment was designed to ensure that findings were as representative as possible of the types of organisations the Arts Council works with, and comprised four elements:

1. A rapid review of existing evidence on skills needs;

2. Scoping interviews with key stakeholders;

3. A large-scale survey;

4. Follow-up interviews.

Together with recently published reports from King’s College London and Consilium, this report will help us understand current and future issues relating to workforce skills in the creative and cultural sector.  It highlights the factors that employers identify as potential risks to the continued sustainability and growth of the sector, as well as the opportunities presented by technological innovation and globalisation.
