In 2018 the 6 In Harmony programmes did action research, including new activities and support for children in significantly disadvantaged communities wanting to continue their musical learning. This was to test the recommendations from the musical progression report completed in 2017 by Dr Sue Hallam and Dr Susanne Burns.

The evaluation of that action research is here in their phase 2 report, along with 19 case studies of young people between 11 and 20 years old who took part in In Harmony at primary school.

The findings provide practical lessons for music education hubs, schools and families wanting to support disadvantaged children to continue their music.
