Original statement - Tuesday 25 October 2022

Following discussions with the Department for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport (DCMS), we have agreed to delay the announcement of the organisations joining our 2023-26 Investment Programme, due to take place on 26 October.

The announcement of the portfolio will instead be made as soon as possible within the coming days.

Arts Council England’s Chief Executive, Darren Henley said:

“We feel for everyone awaiting the outcome of their funding application.

“We recognise the importance of giving organisations certainty to enable business planning and we know a delay will cause some disruption.

“We thank everyone for their patience. We are working with DCMS to reschedule this announcement as soon as possible.”

About the Arts Council’s 2023-26 Investment Programme

Organisations applying to the 2023-26 Investment Programme put forward applications in three strands: National Portfolio Organisations (NPOs), Investment Principles Support Organisations (IPSOs) and Transfer Programme organisations. We’ll invest a significant proportion of our income to the organisations in our portfolio, so in return for this investment, we expect them to make the greatest contribution to helping us realise our strategy, Let’s Create.

Investment in organisations as part of the 2023-26 Investment Programme is due to start from 1 April 2023. The announcement planned for this Wednesday 26 October gave organisations five months’ notice of the start of the new portfolio.

The Arts Council has already announced that organisations leaving the current portfolio may apply for transition funding beyond this notice period, to support them with preparing for the change. It is our intention to address levels and duration of transition funding to ensure leavers are not disadvantaged by the pause.
