A statement on the passing of His Royal Highness Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh

A statement from Sir Nicholas Serota, Chair, Arts Council England, on the passing of His Royal Highness Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh: 

This morning the Royal Family announced that His Royal Highness Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh has passed away. We’re among those mourning the passing of the Duke of Edinburgh, celebrating his extraordinary life and the dedication with which he served the nation.

On behalf of Arts Council England and its National Council members, and as a Royal Charter Organisation, we pay our respects and express our gratitude to the Duke of Edinburgh for his support for the arts and culture sector over so many years, which included royal patronages for numerous cultural organisations.

Our thoughts and condolences are with Her Majesty the Queen, and the rest of the Royal Family.
