Support for Music Education Hubs

Further support for Hubs

As part of our guidance documents and via your Relationship Manager, we signpost to key resources, guidance and toolkits that will help Hubs with their strategic planning and delivery.

In addition, Music Mark is now an Investment Principle Support Organisation (IPSO), funded by the Arts Council to provide specialist training, support and resources for Hubs, as well as the wider music education sector. Hubs are also able to access support from other IPSOs and you can find out more about those organisations here.

The Arts Council’s Investment Principles Resource Hub draws together a range of resources, toolkits and information to support organisations.

If you have ideas for further support and guidance for Hubs, please tell your Relationship Manager or email us.

What was the Hub Support Programme?

The Hub Support Programme ran from 2018-2023 and was developed in consultation with Hubs and Hub partners to offer practical support across a range of areas, including finance, fundraising, equality diversity & inclusion, communications and governance.

It was designed to:

  • Support Hubs to build their organisational resilience and effectiveness
  • Support Hubs with the challenges they faced as a result of the pandemic
  • Support the sector to find and share solutions and innovative approaches
  • Draw on expertise in a range of specialist areas and bring in independent voices and perspectives to support new thinking and ideas

Most recently, Hub Support Programme activity included Music Mark’s two programmes – Underpinning Hubs for the Future (which included a Partnership Innovation Fund) and the Workforce Development Programme. We also supported Awards for Young Musicians’ Identifying Talent and Potential training programme, and Youth Music for the development of its IDEA framework, which is due to be finalised later in 2023. The framework will provide support to Hubs in developing their inclusion strategies.

Moving forwards, Hubs can access dedicated support from Music Mark’s IPSO programme as well as a range of resources from the Investment Principles Resource Hub. We will also continue to provide support and guidance throughout the funding period to help Hubs with understanding the funding requirements.
