Between May 2017 and April 2018, the Reviewing Committee considered 15 cases of cultural objects proposed for export. The Secretary of State placed export deferrals on 12 of these (at the committee’s recommendation) and seven were eventually bought by public institutions:

  • The Schmadribach Waterfall near Lauterbrunnen, Switzerland by Joseph Anton Koch
  • A unique Roman Figurine
  • Queen Victoria (portrait bust) by Alfred Gilbert
  • A rare annotated copy of works by 17th-century playwright Benjamin Jonson
  • Mae West Lips Sofa by Salvador Dalí and Edward James
  • A George I Palladian baby house (or doll’s house)
  • Lobster Telephone (White Aphrodisiac) by Salvador Dalí and Edward James
