Tony Lopez is the author of 25 books of poetry, fiction and criticism. Recent poetry collections are Darwin (2009) and False Memory (2003), which was a book of the year in the New Statesman and poetry book of the year in the Guardian. He has received awards from The Wingate Foundation, The Society of Authors and the Arts and Humanities Research Council.
His critical writings are collected in Meaning Performance: Essays on Poetry and The Poetry of WS Graham. A poetry performer, he has given many readings throughout the UK, Europe and North America. He has completed commissions for Towner Gallery, Eastbourne, for Exeter Healthcare Arts, and for Bury Museum and Art Gallery. Tony is Emeritus Professor in poetry at the University of Plymouth.
