Judith Heathcoat

Judith Heathcoat is a County Councillor at Oxfordshire County Council, for Faringdon and the Coxwells, and is a Cabinet Member for the Safer and Stronger Communities.

She has been involved in local politics for the past 25 years. During that time, she's served as a local town councillor and Deputy Mayor of Faringdon, a District Councillor on the Vale White Horse District Council and for the last 17 years as a County Councillor at Oxfordshire County Council.  

Judith has been Chairman of various committees, including the Corporate Governance Scrutiny committee. Since 2007, she has been a member of the Oxfordshire County Council Cabinet Team, responsible for the portfolio of Safer and Stronger Communities. This portfolio has a varied and complex range of subject matters including:
 
Oxfordshire Fire and Rescue Service, Trading Standards, Emergency Protection, Coroner's Service, Gypsies and Travellers, Adult Learning, Libraries, Museums and Heritage, the Arts, Archives, Leisure and Recreation, Registration Service plus various Strategic Partnerships

Prior to going into politics, Judith has worked in domestic banking, the health service and in education - her last post was at Cranfield University at the Defence Academy of the United Kingdom in Oxfordshire. 
 
Judith's main interests outside of work are listening to classical concerts - her husband being a violinist and a singer with a choral society - visiting art galleries and the theatre, and lots of reading when time permits.
