Cllr Tony Williams
Tony Williams is the Cabinet Member for Culture and Communities at Blackpool Borough Council and the elected councillor for the town's Anchorsholme Ward.
He was born in Durham and moved to Blackpool in the early '60s. Along with Gerry Rafferty, Tony was one of the original members of the band Stealers Wheel. In 1978 he joined Jethro Tull for their North American tour and was featured on the band's historic satellite broadcast from Madison Square Gardens, New York.
He subsequently became involved in elephant conservation through animal parks in the UK and North East India, and has spent some time in the development of musical instrument supplies to UK schools and colleges.
Tony is the Chair of Bsafe Blackpool, the crime and drugs reduction partnership, and also chairs the town's heritage forum. He is Vice Chair of the Lancashire Safety Partnership and sits on the board of the Grand Theatre.
Tony is very much involved with all aspects of performing and creative arts on the Fylde coast and is an avid supporter of live music.
