Professor Steve Hawley
Steve Hawley is Professor of Art and Media at the Manchester School of Art, part of Manchester Metropolitan University, where he is also Head of the Department of Media. For many years he was Head of Fine Art at Sheffield Hallam University.
He is an artist, who has been making artists' film and video since 1981 - his work has been shown at galleries and broadcast worldwide since then. He has a particular interest in language, narrative and the moving image, and his present work examines how new technologies can affect traditional narrative. His most recent film, Yarn, uses the DVD medium to present an ever changing generative narrative, and was premiered at the Australian Experimental Film Festival this year.
