Anil Ruia OBE : Chair

Anil Ruia OBE

Anil Ruia is Chair of Arts Council England, North West. He is a director at Botraco Limited and is Chairman of Warren Tea Limited India, which is engaged in the business of growing, manufacture and sale of black tea. He has a law degree from King's College, London and is a chartered accountant.

Anil has a strong background in culture and sport in the North West, and in supporting the region through his business and skills experience. Anil has many external interests involving organisations in community, business, educational and charitable affairs.  He is currently Chair of the Governing Body of the University of Manchester and a member of the HEFCE Board. Previously, Anil has been a Board Member of the North West Development Agency, The North West Cultural Consortium, The Manchester Asian Business Forum, M2002 Limited, The Commonwealth Film Festival, a Trustee of National Museums Liverpool and a Governor of the Manchester Grammar School together with a non-executive directorship at Granada Television Limited.

In October 2002 was elected President of the Manchester Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and was awarded an OBE in January 2001 for services to business.
