Councillor Andrew Curtin

Councillor Andrew Curtin received an MA in Art History and Theory from Essex University  with a dissertation on the late eighteenth-century History Painter Anton Losenko.

He has worked on aspects of eighteenth and nineteenth century Russian art at the State Russian Museum, St. Petersburg, State Tretyakov Gallery, Moscow, and other archives in both cities. He has also translated catalogues and other material from Russian to English, including the catalogue of the major Whistler exhibition in Moscow a couple of years ago.

First elected to Havering Council in 1998,  Andrew represents Romford Town Ward and is a Cabinet Member for Culture, Towns and Communities - covering arts, sport, libraries, heritage, parks and architecture.

He is particularly interested in the social impact of the arts.
