Uzma Johal
Uzma Johal has been Co-Founder and Strategic Director of Threshold Studios in Northamptonshire since 1999, a not-for-profit social enterprise led by media practitioners with extensive experience of working in the arts and creative media industries.
After having to relocate to Northamptonshire 10 years ago, Uzma set up, with like-minded artists, Don’t Look Now, a voluntary artist-led organisation committed to developing local media artists and supporting local communities in Northamptonshire. This became Threshold Studios. Since then, Uzma has taken the role of Strategic Director for the organisation, continuing to drive the ethos and vision behind Threshold Studios through their Young Creatives, Artists and Film Makers’ professional development programmes. Her position on the coalface of delivery and within strategic meetings defining local and regional policy has given Uzma confidence and passion to continue advocating for social change through participation, innovation and development in the arts.
