Cllr Roger Begy
Roger Begy left Oxford to join Alcan Aluminium as a graduate trainee. He gained his first role as a managing director (Alcan Polyfoil) at the age of 30. He has remained within the food sector in senior board positions for companies such as Green Giant and British Sugar until semi retiring. He continues with interests in start up companies. Roger was the initial chairman of Lincolnshire and Rutland LSC and in 2008 was appointed Regional Chair for the East Midlands. He has been Leader of Rutland CC since 2003 and is on the Regional Leaders Board. He is a board member of the Regional Assembly, East Midlands Tourism and is Chairman of the Rural Services Network that focuses nationally upon rural issues. He received the OBE in 2008 for services to Further Education. He has had a long term interest in many aspects of the arts. He is particularly interested in the development of creative arts in learning and as a driver in economic development.
