Cllr Stuart Wheeler
Cllr Stuart Wheeler sits on the cabinet of Wiltshire Council and has responsibility for a variety of functions including Culture and the Arts. Stuart is by profession a solicitor having qualified in 1975 and moved to Wiltshire in 1991 when his employers relocated to Swindon.
Stuart has lived in Houston Texas and Sydney Australia and has travelled widely. His main interests in the arts area are fine art, and the theatre. He is a member of the Royal Academy and the National Portrait Gallery and an observer director of Salisbury Theatre. Stuart feels strongly that the partnership between the local authority and Arts Council in giving financial support to the whole arts sector can benefit not only the residents of the county but also support and enhance the overall effect of the whole sector. This stimulates both tourism and the beneficial economic impact of all the arts sector on the economic wellbeing of the wider community.
