Cllr Matthew Tucker
Born in Salisbury, Matt Tucker moved to Southampton in 2004 to study Archaeology and History at the University of Southampton. Since graduating in 2007, he has worked for telecoms and pension companies and currently works for a dispute resolution service in Salisbury. He has been a political activist since 2011, with particular interests in housing, heritage, leisure and community safety. As a Bargate Councillor, he enjoys representing the diverse and ever-changing communities in the City Centre.
Between May 2012 and April 2013, Matt was the backbench lead on major City Centre development projects and other aspects of economic development. From May 2013 to May 2014, he served as Cabinet Member for Economic Development and Leisure Services and in June 2014, was elected to Chair the Council's Licensing Committee. Matt is also the city's Heritage Champion.
