The last year was unique for the Arts Council in many ways, including:
summer 2012 saw the culmination of the Cultural Olympiad with the London 2012 Festival and other landmark projects taking place across the country – engaging millions of people with fresh and exciting arts and cultural activity and creating more than 5,000 new works of art involving some 40,000 artists
for the first time we distributed funding from the Department for Education, for work on cultural education including music hubs.
we restructured our organisation to reduce our administrative costs by 50 per cent as applied to our Grant in aid for the arts by March 2015
our National Portfolio programme completed its first year, funding 696 organisations
