Geese Theatre Company
What is Inside Theatre about?
Geese are working collaboratively with artists from other artforms to deliver three residencies for 15 young people in secure settings. The artists will receive training and be supported in their work.
Inside Theatre is a departure from Geese’s usual way of working not only because of the collaborative element, but also because the projects are not dealing directly with offending behaviour, rather the acquisition of creative and personal skills.
The project is testing collaborative working and working on creative and personal skills with young offenders. The project aims to:
- deliver three week long theatre residencies in young offenders institutions/juvenile secure establishments throughout the UK. Each residency will invite up to 15 young offenders to participate in a series of multidisciplinary theatre workshops within a broad framework of a devised theatre process
- have these workshops culminate in two performances on the final day, created and performed by the offenders to other inmates and invited professionals from the prison
Who is involved?
Geese Theatre is a national touring company working exclusively within the criminal justice system. Geese present performances and run group work programmes with offenders and young people at risk of offending.
