As a result of a Catalyst grant from Arts Council England, the Arts Fundraising and Philanthropy Programme will run as a three-year project from 2013-2016. It offers people across the arts and cultural sector training, fellowships, coaching, and digital skills development to encourage innovative and effective practice in arts fundraising and encourage a more entrepreneurial approach to income generation.
The Arts Fundraising & Philanthropy Programme includes:
The Arts Fundraising & Philanthropy Programme offers a wide range of training opportunities for people working across the arts, at all stages of their career and at all scales of activity. One-day training courses are offered at introductory, practical and strategic levels and there are also half-day training courses on trustee leadership. Training is priced to encourage individuals or organisations to take a ‘modular’ approach and book multiple events. Courses usually take place in London, Birmingham, Leeds, Manchester and Bristol, but also happen in other parts of England where there is specific demand.
Coaching and Action Learning programme
The Coaching and Action Learning programme is designed to support busy people who are leading arts organisations or development teams. Arts Fundraising & Philanthropy wants to help foster confident, resilient arts leaders and develop a peer-to-peer leadership community that will help people to share working practices and learn from each other.
Arts Fundraising Fellowships
The 12-month Arts Fundraising Fellowship programme equips graduates and early career professionals with the skills and experience needed to make a dynamic contribution to the arts as development and fundraising professionals. It provides hands-on learning within the development department of a leading arts organisation, supported by a tailored schedule of training, mentoring and coaching.
Arts Fundraising & Philanthropy is working in partnership with The Management Centre to offer a series of unique placement opportunities with four major UK-based charities. These are for people working in arts fundraising who are keen to expand their knowledge and understanding of the Third Sector, would benefit from working within larger Third Sector organisations, and can share their learning with the wider arts sector.
Arts Fundraising & Philanthropy is working in partnership with a range of arts sector organisations to deliver a number of projects and events. This includes an ‘Agile Fundraising Training Programme’ with Dance UK, ‘Sounding Out’ with Sound and Music, and ‘Gallery Fundraising Project’ with VAGA. It is also working in partnership with the Arts Marketing Association on its conference in July 2014 which will feature a dedicated fundraising & development programme.
National summer school for arts fundraising and leadership
The University of Leeds in partnership with Arts Fundraising & Philanthropy is offering an intensive programme of study for emerging cultural entrepreneurs and will be led by renowned academics and arts sector professionals. This accredited residential course will run from 31 August to 5 September 2014.
