Benslow Music Trust

3 Sep 2009

The Benslow Music Trust is a unique national institution offering friendly short residential and day courses for amateur musicians of all ages and standards, throughout the year. The building itself is a Victorian mansion in beautifully landscaped gardens in Hitchin - how better to enjoy a short music course?

The charity's roots go back to September 1929, and today Benslow and its team of tutors offer a huge variety of courses, taking in a whole range of genres from Medieval to Jazz and Dance Band and including music appreciation courses and professional-standard summer schools. It's also home to an Instrument Loan Scheme for talented young musicians, and on top of all that, it stages a prestigious concert series, given by some of the country's finest chamber musicians and singers, many of them Benslow tutors.

Head of Music, Stephen Pettitt told us: "Many people who come here treat it almost as a second home. There can be no greater compliment than that".

So if you'd like to be part of a chamber music group, orchestra or choir, if you prefer to work as a soloist, or even if you don't play or sing at all but just love music, Benslow has a whole range of music courses to choose from. Beginners, advanced players, singers, and everyone in between will find something.
