Showcase

3 Aug 2009

The fourth decibel Performing Arts Showcase kicks off in Manchester on 15 September. It offers promoters and arts professionals a unique snapshot of England’s diverse performing arts talent. And it’s a great way for programmers, producers and promoters to see up to fifty artists over four days.

Highlights of the programme include Tomorrow's Warriors' recreation of Duke Ellington's The Queens Suite, and Beat Bazaar Live presenting new songs from their forthcoming album, We Know Where You Live. It features high energy broken beats layered with rumbling basslines, complimented by catchy hooks and melodies.

In addition to the world class programming, the showcase features a whole range of workshops and panel debates including ‘Make do and Mend’, chaired by cultural activist and former Director of Arts at the British Council, Venu Dhupa. Venu will be joined by leading names in international performing arts, including the Lincoln Centre’s Bill Bragin, ChangCheng Zhang, Director of Beijing Modern Dance Company and Ismail Mahomed, Director of the Grahamstown National Arts Festival, in a discussion which looks at the challenges facing the sector in a global economic downturn.
