Whose Theatre? Report on the Sustained Theatre consultation

Date:18 May 2006
Artform:Theatre
Subject:Diversity, Research
Region:National

This report presents the findings of the Sustained Theatre consultation, which took place in November 2005 and looked at the future infrastructure and development needs of the Black and minority ethnic theatre sector. It makes a number of recommendations to ensure the further development and long-term success of Black and minority ethnic theatre. The recommendations are based upon the following areas - buildings for the future, leadership, international, critical dialogues and historical archives, and the Arts Council. The Arts Council welcomes the report's recommendations. Our response to the report sets out our commitment to develop a long-term strategy for Black and minority ethnic theatre, working in partnership with the sector.
