Family Friendly Toolkit

Date:7 March 2007
Artform:All
Subject:Audience development and participation, Education and learning, Social inclusion
Region:Arts Council England

This toolkit is designed to support arts organisations wishing to make a commitment to families, making it easier for families to take part in the arts, as audiences and participants. Aimed at arts professionals and drawing on extensive research and interviews, the toolkit contains experiences and examples of good practice from many arts organisations to help develop work for families. It also provides:

  • an introduction to the concept of being a family friendly organisation

  • an audit to assess how you support families

  • tools for getting started

  • facts and figures about the family audience

  • tried and tested ideas to develop your work

Please sign the Family Friendly Promise and you will be able to use the Family Friendly logo in your marketing. The logo will act as an important symbol of recognition for family audiences while unifying the Family Friendly campaign across the country. We’d like arts organisations to join a Family Friendly promise to sign up to the Guiding Principles (as detailed on page 5 and 6) to gain:

  • access to the Family Friendly logo to use with your Family Friendly campaign

  • access to Family Friendly examples of best practice and case studies so that you can draw inspiration from other organisations

Please complete and return the attached form and you will be sent the Family Friendly logo via email.
