Artsadmin: David Gale’s Peachy Coochy Nites

Artsadmin is a unique producing organisation for contemporary artists working in theatre, dance, live art, visual arts, and mixed media. It supports and promotes arts projects locally, nationally and internationally.  David Gale’s Peachy Coochy Nites is just one example from their exciting events programme.

Just a projector and 20 images. Just 20 seconds per image. During those 20 seconds the Presenter talks about the image. So simple. So precise. So demanding. This is the Peachy Coochy way.

David Gale curates, comperes and presents a regular Peachy Coochy event in Artsadmin’s Arts Bar & Café on the last Thursday of each month. Each event features five Coochers (or presenters) drawn from many walks of life. Each Coocher will compose a verbal response to 20 images of their choice. The images need not be narratively linked but randomness is frowned upon. Thematic associations are embraced. Each presentation lasts six minutes and 40 seconds. There will be gaps between presentations for drinking and light conversation.

A typical Peachy Coochy event might contain contributions from, say, a reliable yet inevitably narcissistic performer, a lepidopterist, a nun, a surgeon, a robber. We shall see. I can't wait, personally.

Forthcoming dates for the event are 24 April 08, 29 May 08, 26 June 08. The event takes place at Artsadmin, Tonybee Studios, London and starts at 7.30pm.
