Ruthin Craft Centre has been part of the Collectorplan Scheme for many years giving visitors an opportunity to buy some of the best craft pieces around.

Nestled against the stunning backdrop of the Clwydian Hills in North Wales, the centre was the recent recipient of a £3.15 million investment from the Arts Council of Wales' Capital Lottery Funding stream - the largest grant of its kind made to North Wales.

As a result, the bespoke Gallery now consists of three galleries - two for displaying the best contemporary craft from Wales and around the world, the other a collections gallery and a retail gallery space. There are also studios for artists, educational and residency facilities, a café and a tourist information cultural gateway.

Ruthin Craft Centre has already won the Dewi-Prys Thomas Prize 2009, which recognises the importance of good design to the quality of life, identity and regeneration of Wales and reached the final shortlist for the Arts Fund Prize earlier this year.

In January 2010 you can see Sculpture to Wear - the first major exhibition in the UK of the work of the exceptional American jewellery artist Marjorie Schick. It’s a rare overview of this important artist’s boundary-crossing work from the late 1960s to the present.

Collectorplan can be used to buy items from the Contemporary Objects for Interiors exhibition which can also be seen at the Craft Centre in January 2010. This is a showcase of contemporary craft for the interior and it introduces a range of makers working in furniture, textiles, surface pattern, glass and lighting. Curated as a room set, eleven makers show exquisite handmade objects in a domestic setting.
