Arts Council of Wales Collectorplan Scheme
15 Jan 2010
Arts Council of Wales was the first Arts Council in the UK to offer the opportunity to purchase art, interest free, in 1983. 27 years later, nearly 30,000 people have taken advantage of this pioneering scheme.

Supporting and developing personal collecting continues to be a significant part of Arts Council of Wales’s strategy to support artists and make the opportunity to purchase art and craftwork ever more accessible.
By visiting one of the 80 galleries across Wales, participating in Collectorplan, you can use up to £2000 credit to purchase an original work of art.
What can you buy?
As with Arts Council England’s Own Art scheme, as long as the work is by a living artist and purchased from one of the Collectorplan Galleries in Wales, the world’s your oyster! Buy anything from glass and ceramics to artists’ film and video and more.
There are a few differences between Collectorplan and Own Art, so if you wish to use the scheme in Wales take a note of the following:
Interest-free* credit starts at £50 and runs to a maximum loan of £2,000
10% deposit is required upfront but the repayment period is the same as with Own Art at 10 months for loans of £1000. Loans for up to £2000 can be repaid over a period of 15 months.
You can buy multiple works of art from multiple galleries up to the maximum £2,000 credit facility threshold
Loans are available to UK residents aged 18 or over with a bank or building society account capable of operating direct debits. A Collectorplan loan is normally approved in 7-10 days
Over 80 galleries throughout Wales offer the scheme. For a list please visit the website.
