Wysing Arts Centre is launching a double this month. Collectors are now able to purchase works using Own Art and from Saturday 21 November the third of the centre’s curated selling exhibitions - Wysing Arts Contemporary: Expanded, will be on display.

Introduced by special guest speaker Paul Hobson, Director of the Contemporary Art Society, Expanded presents four artists working in the Eastern region who are exploring the boundaries between painting and sculpture.
French artist Julie Brenot, one of Wysing’s studio artists, has been working on a series of paintings and drawings based on urban landscapes; reduced to create expanded and abstracted graphic images.
Working in drawing, sculpture and montage, David Kefford uses common place objects and everyday materials to create new hybrid objects with anthropomorphic sensibilities.
Lucy Conochie (MA, Slade School of Fine Art) and Lee Marshall (Norwich School of Art) are both recent graduates included in the show. Conochie takes architectural details as her starting point and paints directly onto walls and other surfaces whilst Marshall’s vibrant paintings incorporate the techniques of street art, graphic design, computer games and comics.
Wysing Arts Contemporary is a new initiative that Wysing began this year to provide both an opportunity to purchase exciting and affordable new work and show that buying art can positively impact on the careers of emerging artists.
With 24 studio artists working in a wide range of media at the centre, plus the development of international commissions, Wysing is providing a compelling platform for critically engaged work in the eastern region. It has also recently started a collectors group called the Wysing Collective, which is part of the nationwide group The Collective.
