What is the premise of Phillips ART Expert?
Phillips ART Expert capitalises on the growing public interest in art and design and the desire to collect. Its aim is to engage and educate the user in the nomenclature of the auction process, enhance one's knowledge of art and above all, allow the user to hone his or her taste and collecting passion.

Why is ART Expert such a valuable resource for anyone interested in collecting contemporary art?
It's a great place to become familiar with artists and work. For someone who is overwhelmed by galleries, intimidated by what art means, or has never bought a work of art, phillipsARTexpert.com supports the newbie's edification and begins to demystify the art world.

What sort of features will you find on ART Expert?

Video of Simon de Pury doing Q&A on collecting & buying topics, including the auction process. Articles about exhibitions & art trends by Karen Wright & Rebecca Geldard, games gallery to test your historical and current knowledge of themes, emerging artist profiles, and who's been "spotted" in the art scene.

What is so exciting about Saturday@Phillips?
A great first step into collecting and enables buying with confidence - the work is "curated" by a contemporary art specialist, and estimated with market value in mind. The sales feature work with a reasonable price point with 75% of the work under £3,500. And who doesn't love having a new area of interest to build passion for!

Collecting in the current climate - can you offer any top tips for keeping the momentum going at this time?
Have no fear; it's OK to buy artifacts in an economic downturn as culture never dies. Don't over spend, as it will diminish the emotional value of the work that is so rewarding on a personal level for collectors. Collect things you love and want to be with for a period of time. Learn about the artist's intentions and background. This is a time when important contemporary collections are made. Concepts and ideas that impart influence on culture will have long term value and leave artistic mediocrity behind. Have fun!
