The much loved Vauxhall Art Car Boot Fair, curated by Ashton & Hayward, returns for its fifth fabulous year making it a permanent fixture on the Brick Lane summer calendar. It is the perfect summer’s day out and a chance to grab a few art bargains to boot.
Big name artists such as Gavin Turk, Bob & Roberta Smith and Sir Peter Blake will be selling their work at low prices and crowds can marvel at this year’s fantastic Vauxhall Art Car Commissions selected by Karen Ashton.
Spot the next Damien Hirst in the making at the “art mobile”, a Vauxhall displaying the work of 17 emergent artists, courtesy of curator duo Pearce & Ramsey, quickly establishing a reputation for picking up the most exciting new talent coming out of the UK's best fine art colleges. Artists include Charlesworth, Ledowsky and Mann; a group of artists who have been hotly tipped by Saatchi.
New for this year, an art auction with prices starting from just £1, rounds off the day.
To add to this fun and frivolity, what boot fair would be complete without the chance to sample some delightful food from old favourites St John’s Bread and Wine, Debbie’s Diner plus new edition The Bath Pig, specialising in cured meats.
So put the Sunday 14 June in your diary as a chance to forget your troubles and frolic in all the fun of the boot fair.
