The fair is an essential destination for anyone wishing to learn more about this dynamic artform.

The diverse and exquisite pieces on show exhibit the best traditions of a centuries old medium but at the same time are vital expressions of contemporary ceramics.
Works on display range from the surreal figures and unlikely scenarios created by Craig Mitchell to Ikuko Iwamoto’s pieces which suggest the everyday in an extraordinary way. Manuel Canu encourages his material to reveal it's qualities by using direct and spontaneous mark making while Lisa Hammonds beautiful functional pieces and shino wares are inspired by time spent in the Mino area.
CAL is held in the Henry Moore and Gulbenkian galleries of the Royal College of Art so there is also the opportunity to see a display of work from the emerging stars of the RCA Ceramics and Glass department.
A free programme of events is being offered during the Fair. Talks will be given by Felicity Aylieff, Claire Curneen, Claire Twomey, Steve Dixon, Jack Doherty and Jane Perryman and there are demonstrations by Eddie Curtis and Lisa Hammond. 'Desert Island Pots' features Sir Christopher Frayling, Rector of the Royal College and previously Chair of Arts Council England.
If you want to beat the credit crunch and invest in an original piece of ceramic artwork, here is your opportunity to buy direct from the maker. Most important of all, each piece will have its own little history and whether you spend a few pounds or a few hundred you will be gaining something unique.
