Living with art

17 Nov 2008

Wondered what it’s like to live with original artwork in your home?

We lent 10 lucky people across the country original works from Own Art galleries, to get them passionate about art and see that with Own Art, art is affordable and an experience for everyone to enjoy.

Yoga teacher Jana Appleyard, 39, who lives in an East End tower block in London, was one of our lucky few who got the chance to see what being an art collector is like.

She was lent a £395 limited edition print (£39.50 per month with Own Art) for a fortnight. The artwork, Robert Towne, 2006, by the painter Sarah Morris, is available at the Whitechapel Gallery in London which is part of the Own Art scheme.

Jana is now hooked, “It’s nice. I have lots of art students and artists I teach so they were all very pleased. I often thought I would never be able to afford to own a painting. But I’m going to have a look now, “ she said. “It’s a good idea and it’s interest-free. This is a picture I wouldn’t normally have looked at, it’s very interesting. And you see it from all kinds of angles doing yoga.”

Own Art helps you take art out of the galleries and straight into your home.
