Portico Quartet performing at East Quantoxhead village hall, part of Somerset - Take Art Live, Clint Randall
Village halls, churches and schools are a focal point for many villages and small towns. They provide a familiar and informal space in which local people can enjoy the arts.
There are eight rural touring agencies in the south west. They work with local communities to promote high quality arts events in these venues. These events mean that people in rural areas have access to low cost, high quality arts performances and activities without the difficulty of travelling to a larger venue.
Each agency has its own way of working and they also operate as a group across the region on projects such as Black Voices. The rural touring schemes in the south west are members of the National Rural Touring Forum.
