Clare Woods, 'The Bishops'. Enamel on aluminium. Meadow Gallery commission, 2009
Meadow Arts in the West Midlands commissions new works and produces temporary outdoor exhibitions.
Following a flexible and creative approach to exhibiting and producing art in the natural environment, its programmes are usually based outside urban centres and bring high-quality contemporary art to areas where few other facilities exist.
Meadow Arts operates on a peripatetic basis, working with a variety of host heritage venues with an established visitor base. This helps create new audiences, encourages partnerships and provides opportunities for vibrant education programmes.
In 2006, the organisation initiated a partnership with the National Trust that resulted in the 2007 exhibition Still Life at Hanbury Hall in Worcestershire. The large-scale Give Me Shelter was held at Attingham Park in Shropshire until September 2009, while Tell it to the Trees can be seen at Croft Castle in Herefordshire until September 2010 .
The Arts Council has commissioned Meadow Arts to develop and deliver a rural commissioning programme between 2008 and 2010 that will see a series of arresting new works in Worcestershire and Herefordshire.
