  • Date: 26 May 2009
  • Region: North West, Yorkshire

The digital clock is ticking for artists and arts organisations wanting to be part of a landmark event that will explore ways to maximise the opportunities presented by digital technologies.

On 29 and 30 June at York Theatre Royal Shift Happens 2.0 looks at the next evolution in digital technology for arts organisations.

Highlights include: inspiring talks by leading creative innovators including Lyn Gardner, Charlie Leadbeater and Bill Thompson; the chance to participate in debate and discussion about the latest technologies and in workshops on how to implement ideas; and opportunities to explore how working digitally can open up new areas of funding and sustainable working for organisations.

Places are strictly limited and must be pre-booked.

Adrian Friedli, Director Visual Arts & Literature, Arts Council England, Yorkshire, said: ‘Digital technologies open up new and highly effective ways to connect with other arts practitioners and audiences. Shift Happens 2.0 will bring together leaders in this field with a wide range of artists and organisations from across the country who recognise the importance of being at the forefront of the digital revolution.’

Shift Happens 2.0 is a partnership event between Pilot Theatre and York Theatre Royal, funded by Arts Council England, Yorkshire as part of its work to foster an arts sector that is digitally active and prepared for emerging opportunities.

Arts Council England regularly funded organisations will also be invited to attend the AmbITion Roadshow which takes place at York Theatre Royal on 29 June. This event will introduce the range of digital technology available and provide an ideal introduction to Shift Happens 2.0, which follows immediately afterwards.
