Diver Tom Daley is one of the sporting elite who have been filmed for a dance and film project for the Cultural Olympiad.

The project, which is a partnership between Arts Council England, Dance South West and the BBC, uses Peter Anderson's film in which choreographed shadows of dancers and elite sport athletes appear to leap, jump, spin, dive off and run up urban sites across the cities of Plymouth, Bristol and Swindon.

Choreographer Jules Laville has created a dance piece which will be performed live with the film by six professional dancers who will be joined by a dance youth group in each location.

Events will take place at the Live Sites in Plymouth, Bristol and Swindon where live dancers will perform against the backdrop of a specially commissioned film.

Arts Council England's South West Director Phil Gibby said: 'Hundreds of people will be able to enjoy these free performances which use dance and film. By drawing their inspiration from the sporting elite and from the locations in which they take place, these performances will appeal to all sorts of people, helping us to make great art available for everyone.'

Sebastian Coe, Chair of the London Organising Committee of the Olympic and Paralympic Games (LOCOG) said: 'We want to use the power of the Games to inspire change. The Inspire programme is recognising the work our partners all round the UK are doing to help us achieve this vision now - three years out from the start of the Games. I congratulate everyone involved in On Your Marks for securing the Inspire mark and wish you every success with your work.'
