A forthcoming exhibition at west London's Victoria and Albert Museum will celebrate classic examples of post-war British design.

Among the diverse array of works that will go on display to the public as part of the British Design 1948-2012: Innovation in the Modern Age show are a David Bowie album cover, a Jaguar E-Type car and an Alexander McQueen evening gown.

The exhibition, which is due to run between March 21 and August 12 next year, will also feature items like Laura Ashley textiles and a 1959 Morris Mini Minor.

Professor Martin Roth, Director of the V&A, said: 'We are delighted to be hosting a series of British themed displays across all the collections in the museum to accompany the major spring exhibition.'
