Talent and skills and creative contributions to worklessness

  • Date: 23 October 2009
  • Area: North

The cultural sector in the north west wishes to engage as many people as possible in cultural activities – for a variety of reasons; for individual enjoyment; to build stronger communities; to support the economic health of the cultural sector; to make the north west a more vibrant and attractive area in which to live; to promote understanding of and respect for the diversity of society across the region. Arts Council England wishes to develop talent and skills in the sector and use this talent base to strengthen the international competitiveness of the north west.

Developing people and talent is critical to our future economic success in terms of:

  • Raising aspiration

  • Developing and retaining talent

  • Knowledge transfer

  • Addressing worklessness

  • International competitiveness
