As part of London 2012 Festival, the Brooklyn based dhol 'n' brass band Red Baraat will perform at St Georges, Bristol on Monday 10 September.

This performance rounds off Red Baraat's debut UK tour which has taken the band around the UK to London, Bracknell, Edinburgh, Manchester, Leicester, Isle of Wight and Birmingham.

The band will also perform at Trafalgar Square on the BT London Live Stage this Sunday 9 September as part of the closing ceremony for the Paralympic Games. The date marks the last day of the London 2012 Festival.

The nine piece band led by dhol drummer Sunny Jain consists of dhol, drums, percussion, a sousaphone and a five piece horn section. The band fuse North Indian rhythms of bhangra with funk, jazz, Latin and go-go. They have performed across the US in basements and warehouses as well as prestigious venues such as New York's Lincoln Centre, Washington's The Kennedy Centre, Chicago World Music Festival, Montreal Jazz Festival and even the White House.

The tour is promoted by south west based based Asian Arts Agency. Jaswinder Singh, Project Director said:

'We are really excited to be welcoming Red Baraat to the UK for their first ever UK tour and to be part of the nationwide London 2012 cultural celebrations. It's an honour to be part of this spectacular festival and we've no doubt that Red Baraat will bring something unique to the festivities with their incredible energy and great sound. We can't wait!'

The tour is part of the London 2012 Festival, the spectacular 12-week nationwide celebration running from 21 June until 9 September 2012 bringing together leading artists from across the world with the very best from the UK.
