Mandala set to illuminate Nottingham Council House

Mandala is a dazzling free outdoor performance event, taking place on Sunday 9 September in Nottingham's Old Market Square.

It will provide dramatic celebrations for the finale of the London 2012 Festival which has been taking place over the last 12 weeks, showcasing the UK's world-class culture and giving people across the UK the opportunity to celebrate the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games.

It also marks the opening weekend for World Event Young Artists as part of its Sunday Fiesta and the final weekend of MelaFest 2012 in Nottingham, presented by New Art Exchange and Nottingham Asian Arts Council.

Nottingham Council House will be magically illuminated with colour and light, to tell a story that connects the past, present and future, featuring stunning digital projections and visual effects triggered by the live dance and music.

Mandala is a bold new collaboration between the dynamic agency for South Asian arts, sampad, and leading arts & technology organisation, seeper.

Directed by Kully Thiarai, with choreography by Aakash Odedra and artistic direction by Piali Raythe production aims to present South Asian dance and music in a fresh and exciting new way.
