Make the case for culture – refreshed advocacy toolkit available now

  • Date: 29 May 2013
  • Area: National

What do a single dishwasher tablet, a one-minute mobile phone call, and one-tenth of a litre of petrol have in common?

The answer is that they all cost 14p which is the amount that each person in England contributes per week via the Arts Council to investment in arts and culture. In return, we get world class art, a major contribution to the economy, and cultural experiences that enrich all of our lives.

It's a compelling argument for the value of arts and culture and one that we are keen to support artists and arts and cultural organisations to make - particularly in these times of strained resources and economic austerity.

The toolkit includes information about the government agenda, working with media and MPs, and how to advocate plus downloadable infographics on the economy, investment, audiences and employment.

Since 2012, we've been working closely with National portfolio organisations and museum and library partners to develop a refreshed toolkit that can support anyone to step up their advocacy role.

The advocacy toolkit is available now on our website. Let us know what you think and join the debate on making the case for culture on Twitter with #artsfunding.
