Sir Peter Bazalgette Chair, Arts Council England delivered his inaugural lecture at London's RSA on Wednesday 20 March. The lecture launches a partnership between the RSA and the Arts Council to deliver a new series of State of the Arts seminars aimed at exploring ideas for a new political economy for arts and culture in England.  

State of the Arts has evolved from the Arts Council's single annual conference to become a series of diverse activities encourage thought leadership in the arts and cultural sector and providing platforms to develop new ideas and respond to the political environment as it develops.

Peter Bazalgette began his tenure as Chair, Arts Council England in February 2013 following a successful term as Chair of English National Opera and an illustrious career in television production where he was Creative Director of Endemol until 2007.
