Katherine Green received £5,000 through Grants for the arts towards 'Going to the Dogs' - A photographic exhibition charting the last three months of Walthamstow Stadium amidst hopes it could re-open. In August we have awarded £766,590 to artists and projects across the capital, including:
£17,100 has been awarded to Harrow Arts Centre for Panchamukhee Durga Utsav 2009 where more than 35 arts based activities and events will be programmed to celebrate Durga Utsav, one of the oldest and largest festivals in the Indian sub-continent. The programme for the 2009 festival will be an exciting mix of artistic and cultural events for participants of all age groups.
£75,000 has been awarded to If:book - The Future of the Book for IFSOFLO. This is a project to build a new website and an active national network of literature organisations to work together to explore the creative potential of new media for readers and writers. IFSOFLO will provide a crucial way of pooling resources to give organisations an advantage in the digital economy.
Ingrid Macody Lund Fraser has received £4,999 to produce Opera Evolution, an operatic performance art event that will explore the subject of sociological change and science. The project aims to reate opera for a new audience by combining contemporary performance with scientific metaphor and cutting edge costume and design.
