Cumbria culture and creativity highlighted in two reports

Two recently published reports comissioned by Arts Council England and English Heritage demonstrates the opportunities for culture to impact on regeneration, and Cumbrian arts and ecology initiatives.

The first report relates to the Energy Coast of West Cumbria including Barrow.

Exploring New Opportunity for Arts & Culture within Cumbria with particular emphasis on the Energy Coast of West Cumbria by Kate Willard and 21st Century ERA Ltd May 2008

Commissioned by Arts Council England, North West and English Heritage in the north west , this report looks at the range of opportunities for culture and design to impact on the regeneration of the west of Cumbria. The opportunities and proposals cited in the report were identified by agencies and organisations working on the Energy Coast - the report clusters the proposals under two themes

  • 1. Developing Creative Human Capital

  • 2 Design and Infrastructure
  • The second report covers activity across Cumbria as a whole

    Commissioned by Arts Council England, North West and English Heritage in the north west , this report maps current arts and ecology initiatives in Cumbria and demonstrates the range and quality of the work being undertaken by the cultural sector in relation to community and environmental sustainability.
