The Culture, Health and Wellbeing 2013 international conference in Bristol next June is now open for registration and submission of abstracts. It promises to be a stimulating and vibrant exchange of ideas, to provoke new ways of researching and creating, and will encourage delegates to question assumptions and learn about different approaches to current issues and areas of practice. The conference will inform international perspectives on:

  • Healthy and Creative Ageing
  • Global Health Inequalities and Culture
  • Culture and the Social Determinants of Wellbeing

There will be a particular focus on developing national and international dialogue and networking.

One of the keynote speakers, Margret Meagher, Executive Director of Arts and Health Australia, says:

'Being 'Down Under' provides Australia with a unique global view of the world. I am really looking forward to this conference which will be a watershed event for arts and health knowledge exchange across sectors, cultures and geographic boundaries.'

Other keynotes include David Leventhal, who has pioneered the use of dance for people with Parkinson's Disease. Working with the Mark Morris Dance Group in New York he founded Dance for Parkinson's Disease, or Dance for PD, which is now developing an international following, including here in the UK.

Culture, Health and Wellbeing 2013 is organised by Arts & Health South West on behalf of the National Alliance for Arts, Health and Wellbeing and in partnership with the Royal Society for Public Health
