The new year sees more exciting developments from our south east Cultural Olympiad projects as we count down to London 2012.

South east artist Rachel Gadsden and a consortium of CIAO! Festival, Henley Festival, Oxford Inspires and Windsor Festival received support for their projects, while The Boat Project gets ready to open its doors to the public.

These projects are sure to capture your imagination and warm your heart. From a multimedia project involving women with HIV and Aids in Cape Town, to illuminated trees along the Thames powered by cyclists, to a ship constructed from donations of cherished wood items that will set sail in 2012.

They all form part of the Cultural Olympiad, a four-year cultural programme whose aim is to give people across the UK an opportunity to get involved with the arts, celebrating the spirit and history of the Olympics and Paralympics.

The Cultural Olympiad programme is supported by Arts Council England, Legacy Trust UK and the Olympic Lottery Distributor.
