A series of colourful and inspiring artworks are to brighten up Northamptonshire's waterways.

Steve Messam has created a series of spire forms, which will be located outside the historic market town of Oundle along the River Nene in September.

Meanwhile Jo Fairfax has created a light display using a combination of LED lighting, digital film production and lasers, which will light up the county's water towers.

The artworks, part of the Flow exhibition, are part of the East Midlands Igniting Ambition Festival and the UK's Cultural Olympiad.

The festival is aimed at inspiring people in the county while the Cultural Olympiad was set up to give everyone in the UK a chance to be part of London 2012 and inspire creativity across all forms of culture.

Arts Council England is a principal funder of the Cultural Olympiad. Find out more at london2012.com/cultural-olympiad.
