Northern Ballet Theatre has launched an online auction to support its capital fundraising campaign, momentum.

The auction will run over the next three months leading up to the Company's 40th Anniversary Gala at the Grand Theatre, Leeds on 12 December, also in aid of momentum. To take part in the auction visit Northern Ballet Theatre

The online auction offers people the opportunity to have adventures in dance and beyond which normally money couldn't buy.

Prizes up for grabs include:

  • a chance for a child to perform with Northern Ballet Theatre in a performance of A Christmas Carol at the Grand Theatre, Leeds between 1 and 10 December 2009.
  • a chance to conduct the Northern Ballet Theatre Orchestra under the tutelage of Music Director John Pryce-Jones at a Northern Ballet Theatre rehearsal
  • a chance to visit the Freed factory in London and watch a pair of pointe shoes being made, then see the shoes in action at a Northern Ballet Theatre performance

The auction has also been supported by local artist Ashley Jackson, City Inn Leeds, Brasserie Blanc, Harewood House, the Queens Hotel, anCnoc whisky and Yorkshire Tea.

Northern Ballet Theatre's Chief Executive Mark Skipper who is spearheading the momentum campaign said: 'This is the first time we have held an online auction and I hope it captures peoples' imaginations. We have prizes which offer people exceptional opportunities and you don't have to be a fan of dance to enjoy the experiences on offer. We are hoping it will help us reach our £1.5million fundraising target for the Northern Ballet Theatre momentum campaign.'

The auction launched on 2 October 2009 and the intention is to hold three lots in the lead up to 12 December.
