Arts Council England's touring programme open for applications

  • Date: 20 December 2011
  • Area: National

We have published guidance for applicants to our new Strategic touring programme, which is now open for applications.

This £45 million programme aims to encourage collaboration between cultural organisations so more people across England experience and are inspired by the arts, particularly in places that rely on touring for much of their arts provision.

Alan Davey, Chief Executive, Arts Council England said: 'Touring will be really important in achieving the Arts Council's goal of seeing more people in England experience and be inspired by the arts.

'This programme is about taking a longer term approach, working alongside cultural organisations to find creative and innovative ways to make sure that people, wherever they live, have access to great art.'

Awards of £10,000 and above will support touring across all artforms. The Strategic touring programme is open to applications from any individual, organisation or consortia that meets the eligibility criteria, with £15 million of funding available in the first year of the programme (2012/13).

Find out more about the programme, including guidance for applying and frequently asked questions, in the dedicated Strategic touring programme section on our website.

More about strategic funding

The Strategic touring programme is one way we are investing our strategic funding between 2012 and 2015. Strategic funding, which comes largely from our Lottery income, will be used to complement our £1.04 billion investment in National portfolio organisations. It will be used to target key areas and seize opportunities - including investment in capital, encouraging private giving and the audience focus programme.

The Arts Council Plan 2011-15 sets out how strategic funding will be used to help realise our Achieving great art for everyone goals and priorities.
